CROWDS turned out in force to support Tighnabruaich RNLI’s annual Lifeboat Day, helping to raise more than £3,700 for the lifesaving charity.
The popular event featured a pop-up tearoom inside the lifeboat station, a barbecue and stalls at the pier, as well as the traditional annual raft race.
Visitor numbers were given an additional boost by the arrival of paddle steamer Waverley.
Competition was keen on the water, with prizes shared across three categories.
Anna and Isla took first place in the junior raft race, while RNLI crew members Matt and Timothy claimed victory in the adult event.
The Farmer family picked up the prize for Best Dressed Raft with their creative ‘Wee-Verley’ entry.
Tighnabruaich’s volunteer lifeboat crew were on hand throughout the event, providing a safety patrol during the raft races.
They were assisted on shore by colleagues from Kames Coastguard Rescue Team.
Meanwhile, the local RNLI fundraising team’s efforts saw a total of £3,737 raised through the tearoom, shop and raffle.
Gillian Cowley, speaking on behalf of the fundraising team, thanked everyone who helped make the event a success.
She said: “A massive thank you to all our volunteers, contributors, crew, Coastguard and the local community and visitors who all came together to make Lifeboat Day such a success.”
Money raised through events such as Lifeboat Day helps support the RNLI’s rescue services, which operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, saving lives at sea.
