STEVEN GIRVAN produced a magnificent performance to be crowned Cowal Golf Club Champion after three rounds of championship golf played across two weekends in glorious summer conditions.
With sunshine throughout the competition and the course presented in outstanding condition, members battled it out for the club’s biggest prizes of the season.
Girvan emerged victorious after rounds of 73, 75 and 72, securing not only the Club Championship but also the First Class Championship and the Nett Championship in an exceptional all-round display.
Defending champion Chris Carson mounted a determined challenge and took the title race right to the final hole, producing an eagle at the 18th in a last-ditch attempt to retain his crown. However, Girvan held his nerve to seal the championship.
There was also success for one of the club’s rising stars, with Connor Macpherson enjoying an impressive championship by winning both the Second Class Championship and the Youth Championship.
Jake Campbell claimed the Third Class Championship, while Martin Mumby was victorious in the Fourth Class Championship.
Club officials congratulated all of the prize winners and thanked every member who took part in the championship, as well as the club’s greens team for preparing the course to such a high standard throughout the competition.
