AWAY from club action, there has been more good news for ColGlen as Auryn Kerr has been selected to play in this year’s iteration of the Caol Cup.
In this prestigious event, the best players from across Scotland at under-21 level are selected to play in a North versus South showdown.
This year, not only has Auryn been picked to play for the South, he also has the honour of being their captain.
A spokesman for ColGlen said: “Auryn is an outstanding shinty player and everyone at the Club is extremely proud of him for being selected, especially as he will be leading the South.
“We wish him and all the South boys the best of luck.”
The match will take place at Castle Leod, Strathpeffer, this Saturday and throw-up is at 12:30pm.
This latest accolade comes after the ColGlen star featured in Scotland under-17s’ tour of Ireland, a modern tradition which has become part of the fabric of the shinty calendar in the past 20 years.
The annual shinty/hurling international tour, held in July this year, aims to showcase the Celtic connection and Kerr shone brightly in both games.
The youngster helped guide the national youth team to two wins from two against Dublin and Meath, even picking up a man of the match award against the team from the capital.
Now, the Glen starlet has another feather in his cap, as he gears up to captain the South against the North for the Caol Cup at the weekend.
