Clyde Cottage Nursery expands to welcome babies

DUNOON IS delivering a boost to early years provision with a new wing at Clyde Cottage Nursery to welcome babies for the first time.

The expansion not only opens doors to babies, there is also an increase in service for two-year-olds with an extra ten places, taking capacity up to 25 per day.

The people behind the drive say the expansion offers more opportunities for

children to benefit from Clyde Cottage’s high-quality early learning environment.

Head of Centre, Julie McPhee, envisions the space becoming a valuable community hub available to external agencies who play a vital role in supporting children and families alongside nursery staff.

She said: “These include health visitors, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, social work services and our local Child Smile team.”

The new wing has been carefully designed to meet the diverse needs of children

and families, and includes: a dedicated baby room; a calming nurture/sensory room; a spacious room for two-year-olds; and a welcoming parent room.

The parent room will host a variety of activities such as parenting groups, book bug sessions and baby massage.

Julie McPhee added: “This expansion is about much more than increasing numbers. It’s about creating the right spaces and fabulous staff to support children’s development, family wellbeing and strong community partnerships. Our vision is for Clyde Cottage to

inclusive environment where every child and family feels supported.”

A very special guest was invited to officially open the new wing, nine-month-old Bonnie Johnstone, who will be the very first baby to attend the Tiny Treasure’s Room. Bonnie was proudly helped by her big sister Orla and her mum Rachel to cut the ribbon and mark the occasion.

The development has Clyde Cottage Nursery looking forward to welcoming new families and strengthening its role at the heart of the community.
