COLGLEN Shinty Club held their annual dinner dance and awards presentation on Saturday night, November 8, in Glendaruel Village Hall.

the event offered a great opportunity for many of the supporters to join the players and club members in celebration after their recent promotion to the Premiership.

An excellent three course meal was provided by caterers Iain and Stuart and everyone was kept well refreshed throughout the evening with the bar run by Ingrams, Dunoon, with Ceilidh band Gunna Sound providing the music for a superb dance.

In the absence of club president, Neil Black, Ewan Morley said a few words and took the opportunity to thank all sponsors and the many people who have helped and supported the club throughout the 2025 season, with several bottles of whisky were handed out in gratitude.

The club as always was extremely grateful to Willie and Anna Morrison, who kindly donated the trophies for the awards.

Following an emotional speech made by team manager, Ronnie MacVicar, the following awards were presented:

The Andy Mcintyre award for best cup game performances was presented by Shona MacKellar, presented to Rory Fraser who received on behalf of Cluanie Fraser; top goalscorer of the season, presented by proud mum Anne McNaughton to son Neilly; player’s player of the year, presented by Jen Morley to Scott MacVicar; young player of the year, presented by Gary to Auryn Kerr; club player of the year award, presented by Amy Paterson to the in-form Scott MacVicar.

With a great evening being had by all, the icing on the cake came when Neil Black made a surprise late arrival, after having been at the Camanachd Association awards ceremony in Fort William where ColGlen had been presented with a silver tipped caman for the club of the year award.

As it had up until then been a closely guarded secret, this surprise brought the house down.

President Black added: “To be voted MOWI Community Club 2025 is an amazing achievement for ColGlen.

“In the 20 years since reforming, the club has made remarkable progress.

“To reach the Premiership and receive this award has been worth all the hard work which has been put in.

“We dedicate this not only to our current players and committee but also to everyone who has played their part over the years helping us get where we are now.

“Preparations are already underway for next season, and we look forward to welcoming new faces to the Glen.”

Indeed, the boys in yellow and black are already looking ahead and have started training hard with their first full squad session having taken place during the day before the dance.

However, for now, Colintraive and Glendaruel Shinty Club would like to thank everyone who has supported them throughout the extremely successful season.
