ARGYLL and Bute Council is asking local employers to spell out how the area’s housing shortage is affecting recruitment, retention, and plans to grow.
Backed by the Scottish Government’s Addressing Depopulation Fund, the council has launched a short online survey as part of its Housing Emergency Action Plan, agreed in 2024.
The aim is to quantify the number and type of new homes needed to support jobs and investment across the region.
Policy Lead for Housing, Councillor Jim Lynch, urged firms of all sizes to take part. He said: “This is an opportunity for employers to shape practical solutions to workforce housing shortages. Hearing directly from those affected will help us support communities and make Argyll and Bute a place more people choose to live, work, and flourish.”
Responses will inform the council’s Housing Need and Demand Assessment and guide further work with partners on alternative housing models to meet employers’ needs.
The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete and is confidential; individual businesses will not be identifiable. The survey is live now and closes on December 22.
