PLANS to demolish Dalmally’s old Village Hall and replace it with a house have been approved.
The proposal by Andrew and Rowena Parr and Rule was first published by Argyll and Bute Council in early November, and planning permission has now been granted.
No representations from the public, expressing either objection or support, were received by the council during the planning process.
A council official said in a handling report: “In terms of the adopted Local Development Plan 2 (LDP2) the site is within the defined ‘settlement area’ of Dalmally where policy 01 of LDP2 gives a general presumption in favour of sustainable development where it is compatible with surrounding uses; provides suitable access and infrastructure; is of an appropriate scale and fit for the size of settlement in which it is proposed; it respects the character and appearance of the surrounding townscape in terms of density, scale, massing, design, external finishes and it complies with all other relevant LDP2 policies.
“As existing the dilapidated village hall is sited in an elevated position above the C61 Dalmally Village Loop Road. The site is in a small linear development of dwellinghouses of various sizes and orientations.
“The site represents an appropriate opportunity for development with the proposed dwellinghouse, to a similar footprint as the Old Village Hall, which is of an appropriate scale, design and finishes, sympathetically designed which will ensure that no significant adverse visual impact on the site or its setting within the wider landscape will arise.”
The officer added: “The proposed dwellinghouse is considered to be of an appropriate scale, design and finishes which will ensure that it will integrate well within the site, the wider development and the wider landscape without giving rise to any significant adverse visual impact concerns or impacting on the privacy or amenity of existing and proposed dwellinghouses.”
