Dunoon Guides and Rangers join thousands for Glasgow adventure

DUNOON Guides and Rangers travelled to Glasgow last month to take part in a major Girlguiding Scotland event alongside 2,600 other members from across the country.

The group made the journey by ferry and train before spending the day in the city taking part in Cityscapes, an event packed with activities and challenges.

During their visit, the girls explored Glasgow city centre while completing a series of tasks and visiting a number of well-known landmarks.

Among the stops were the City Chambers, where they learned about the Suffragettes, the Duke of Wellington statue, and the Gallery of Modern Art, where they followed an art trail.

The Dunoon group also visited Strathclyde University, where they took part in a dance-off, learned about ‘Jackspeak’ from the Royal Navy, and received their woven badges.

The day ended with time at the park before the group headed home.

The local unit is now looking ahead to its next outing, with the Brownies preparing for an adventure-filled weekend at a scout outdoor centre.

For many of the young members, it will be a brand new experience.
