A FORMER Kintyre hotel is set to be brought back into use as six self-catering units after plans were approved by council officers.
Dunvalanree, at Port Righ in Carradale, previously functioned as a hotel with 12 rooms. An applicant identified as Mr A Milstead has now won planning permission for a change of use.
Argyll and Bute Council planning officials received two comments during the planning process, one in favour of the application and the other a neutral representation.
An officer said in a handling report: “The current proposal includes the change of use of the hotel to form six no. self-catering accommodation units. According to the submitted plans, it is noted that there will be no major change in accommodation floor space, and that the nature of the existing and proposed uses is similar.
“It is therefore considered that there will be no major change in demand for infrastructure and services, nor the level of activities generated from the proposed use.
“It is also not anticipated that there will be an unacceptable impact on local amenity, or on the character of the neighbourhood or surrounding area.
“According to the applicant, the proposal mainly consists of minor internal alterations to create self-catering units which will comprise a bedroom, living room/kitchen and a shower room.
“The works consist of the blocking up of some doorways and creating new ones. It is noted that there are no other changes to the main building itself, and the self-catering cottage to the rear will remain as existing.
“It is therefore considered that the proposed development will not result in any materially detrimental effect to the established visual amenity. There are also no concerns related to the development’s impact on scheduled monuments, or any historic assets within the vicinity.”
The report added that a site visit was conducted on October 1 as part of the planning process.
