Fruin Farm wins approval for events and accommodation

OWNERS of a venue near Helensburgh have been granted permission to add event space and accommodation to their layout plan.

Management at Fruin Farm have also won their bid for their operating plan to include accommodation, bar meals and indoor and outdoor sports.

Speaking to councillors at a meeting, it was reported that an increase in capacity had been put on the back burner for the time being.

But members of the Argyll and Bute licensing board unanimously agreed to grant the changes to the premises licence at a meeting on Tuesday, April 21.

Applicant Rebecca Cleworth said: “Since Covid, we have had a think about how we secure ourselves financially, and this is part of that.

“This is to provide accommodation for guests who are at events with us. We are going to put a hold on increasing our capacity for now and come back to it in the future.”

Councillor Paul Kennedy (Liberal Democrat, Helensburgh and Lomond South) then asked if the applicants resided on the premises themselves.

Mrs Cleworth responded: “On nights when we have an event, we do have ancillary staff accommodation on site.

“But the guests to do not get breakfast or anything. They get some pastries, milk, juices and cereal in rooms, but we do not provide breakfast ourselves.”

The councillors then unanimously agreed to grant the variation to the licence.
