Helensburgh venue seeks licence changes for events

A VENUE near Helensburgh is set to apply to add event space and accommodation to its premises licence.

Management at Fruin Farm also want to add accommodation, bar meals and indoor/outdoor sports to the business’s operating plan.

The accommodation is described as three self-contained units. The premises licence currently covers on sales from 11am to midnight seven days a week, with no off sales.

The application for the changes will be heard by the Argyll and Bute licensing board at its meeting on Tuesday, April 21.

A report by a licensing standards officer said: “Fruin Farm is a well-established licensed premises currently described as ‘a restaurant with a boutique-type shop and gallery. There are some farm animals within the grounds (including llamas) which adds to the ‘farm-like’ atmosphere of the site.’

“The applicant has reviewed the operating plan going forward and would like to develop the business in the direction of an event space with inclusion of three self-contained accommodation units for guests to stay in.”

The officer added: “The new layout plan, to be submitted, will show three new areas of accommodation and include the full width of the front lawn and the outside areas.

“The applicant has consulted with the Scottish Fire and Rescue and informs that the fire officer has agreed the capacity can be raised from 60 to 100 people.”
