Kyles Athletic’s young stars can hold their heads high after producing a determined performance in an entertaining MacQuisten Cup Final last weekend.

The club’s under-17 side narrowly missed out on silverware after a hard-fought contest ended in a 7-4 victory for Oban Camanachd.

While the final result did not go Kyles’ way, the team showed tremendous effort, commitment and togetherness throughout the match, contributing to an excellent showcase of youth shinty.

Oban produced a strong performance to secure the trophy, but Kyles continued to battle until the final whistle and demonstrated why they had earned their place in the final.

There were plenty of positives for the young Tighnabruaich side to take from the occasion, including impressive passages of team play and a number of standout individual performances.

The experience of competing in a major final will be invaluable for a promising squad, with the club confident the future remains bright.

A spokesperson for Kyles said every player involved should be proud of their contribution.

They said: “While the result didn’t go our way, every player should be proud of the effort, commitment and teamwork they showed in the final. It’s a squad effort and every player played their part.

There were many positives to take from the final. Some terrific team play and some really strong individual performances. With such a young squad our future is bright and this experience will make us stronger for it.”

The club also thanked the players, coaches, parents and supporters who helped the team on their journey to the final and backed them throughout the competition.

Thanks were also extended to referee Ryan and his officials for overseeing a competitive match, and to the Celtic Society for hosting the final.
