PLANNING permission in principle has been granted for a house to be constructed at a site near Lochgilphead.
Kenny and Jenna Phillips’ application for land north of An Doire Bheag, at Barbreck, has been given the go-ahead in principle after no feedback was received from the public.
An Argyll and Bute Council official said that there were no considerations which would mean planning permission in principle could not be granted.
The officer said in a handling report: “This PPP (planning permission in principle) application seeks to establish whether the principle of creating a single residential unit at the application site is acceptable.
“With PPP applications, there are no requirements for detailed plans and drawings to be submitted, however, a description of the development, along with a location plan to identify the site and details about the location of access point from the public road to the development site are included.
“The site is within Landscape Character Type 57, designated Craggy Coast and Islands, where housing is generally in coastal strips or sheltered areas near the coast.
“There is no landscape capacity assessment for this area but the siting on the River Barbreck plane and in the shadow of the 210m Corlach hill is deemed an appropriate site for an additional house as it will be suitably framed by the hills and woodlands and not have a significant adverse effect on the landscape.
“Any further planning request will require to satisfy the design condition that would be attached to any approval in principle and be accompanied by a detailed VIA (visual impact assessment).”
