New signage and access proposed for Dunoon shopfront

PLANS have been revealed for shopfront alterations at a Dunoon town centre premises.

Ross and Co Accountants Ltd have submitted proposals to Argyll and Bute Council to make the changes at 124 Argyll Street.

New signage and greater accessibility form part of the plans, which are expected to be ruled on by the council by mid-June.

The public are now able to view the plans online and submit feedback to the authority.

A design and access statement by Realta Architecture said: “The proposed alterations to the existing shopfront include new cladding, signage, windows and entrance door.

“Alterations to the stepped access are proposed to provide level access and accommodate greater accessibility. As the structural elements are to remain as existing, a similar proportionality to the shopfront is proposed, effectively divided into three bays.

“The glazed units are shown to be lowered down to existing floor level, increasing the provision of natural light to the office space.

“Internally, alterations will be made to suit the proposed level access arrangements with a new ramp and steps to the existing floor level as well as some internal partitioning which will be used to suit the client’s business needs.

“Careful removal of the existing cladding to the walls and stallrisers, signboard, windows, doors and the existing cigarette dispensers is proposed. The structural elements are to remain.

“We believe the proposed alterations enhance the architectural quality and character as well as the accessibility of both the building, the wider streetscape and the conservation area as a whole.”
