PROPOSALS for 25 residential units at a former Oban creamery site have been withdrawn.
Oban Joinery Services Ltd made the application for the site on Mossfield Drive in May, with the plans receiving 18 objections from the public.
But Argyll and Bute Council officers wrote to the applicants last month requesting that the plan be withdrawn, as part of a review of undetermined applications.
It is not clear from documents published with the plans whether they will be resubmitted at a later date.
In a communication published with the documents, dated November 18, a council officer said: “We are currently undertaking a review of undetermined planning applications with officers having been instructed to be proactive in their management of cases to avoid undue delay and to minimise the number of cases awaiting determination.
“Where supplementary information has been sought and has not been submitted within a reasonable timescale officers are empowered to seek withdrawal or issue refusals.
“Accordingly given our previous correspondence regarding the above application, I would seek that you arrange to withdraw the current application and enter into pre-application discussions, on the back of the withdrawn application, to reach a mutually acceptable scheme for the development of this site.
“Any resubmission within one year of withdrawal would benefit from a ‘free go’ with regards to the planning fee.
“I would be grateful if you would confirm your agreement to withdraw the application.”
The council contacted planning agents Beaton and McMurchy Architects in July and September raising concerns about the lack of a design and access statement, and whether consideration had been given to the surroundings.
A response from Beaton and McMurchy Architects on December 10 said: “My client has confirmed that the above application can be withdrawn.”
Oban Community Council were among the parties who objected to the plans.
