Planning application filed for Seil house redevelopment

PLANS have been lodged for the demolition and replacement of a house on Seil.

The two-storey property at Cruachan at Clachan-Seil has lain empty for a decade, and is now reported to be in a ruinous state.

Julian Taylor has now submitted an application to Argyll and Bute Council to replace it with a five-bedroom house.

The council is expected to rule on the bid for planning permission by early June, with the public now able to view the plans and submit feedback.

A supporting statement by planning agents Harry Taylor and Company said: “Cruachan at Clachan-Seil consists of a derelict two-storey dwelling which has been unoccupied for the past 10 years.

“The condition of the property has been getting progressively worse over this period and is now in a ruinous state.

“The site was recently acquired by the applicant, Nott and Dagr Ltd, a company based on the Isle of Seil. They are looking to breathe new life into the residential site by demolishing the existing derelict building and redeveloping the site with a new detached residential dwelling, which will be fit for purpose and meet modern standards.

“We propose to demolish the existing derelict dwelling on the site and construct a new five-bedroom, three-bathroom residential dwelling, aiming to serve a multi-generational family.

“This new dwelling has been designed to allow for possible future separation into a semi-detached three-bedroom, two-bathroom residential dwelling and a semi-detached two-bedroom, one-bathroom residential dwelling.”

The statement added: “The proposed redevelopment at Cruachan, Clachan-Seil represents a solution to a long-standing vacant and deteriorating residential site.

“The demolition of the existing derelict dwelling and its replacement with a purpose-designed modern family home will significantly enhance the appearance, safety, and functionality of the site, while contributing positively to the local built environment.”
