Rothesay pupils celebrate anniversary

YOUNG presenters at Rothesay Primary are celebrating the first anniversary of their very own news programme, created, produced and delivered by Donna Taylor and the children aged just three to five.

The Nursery News Network (NNN), run by the school’s pre-five class, broadcasts monthly updates led by the youngsters themselves. Over the past year, the pint-sized reporters have covered environmental projects, outdoor learning adventures and community activities, while also interviewing staff and special visitors.

The children decide which stories to share, present weather and eco updates, and even deliver a joke of the month, building confidence and communication skills along the way.

The programme has already attracted some high-profile supporters, including BBC Scotland news reader Anne McAlpine and The Hebridean Baker, who have made surprise guest appearances.

Staff say NNN gives children a meaningful leadership role from an early age, encouraging creativity, teamwork and ownership of their learning while helping them communicate with families and the wider community.

Readers can watch an episode of Nursery News Network by scanning the QR code provided by the school.
