Islay licence bids

AN Islay bar is hoping to reinstate its former accommodation facilities when its plans are heard by councillors.

The Ardview Inn, on Frederick Crescent in Port Ellen, also wishes to change its Sunday opening time to 11am in line with its hours for the rest of the week.

Gaming and films are also proposed to be added to the venue’s operating plan when its bid to vary its licence is considered by the Argyll and Bute licensing board on Tuesday, June 24.

A licensing standards officer said in a report: “[This is] A variation to reinstate the accommodation situated directed above the Inn.

“The accommodation comprises of four letting rooms. The rooms have recently undergone [an] upgrade.

“The applicant has examined the current operating plan and would like to take this opportunity to adjust the Sunday opening and to add gaming and films to the activities provided. The times for children to be adjusted to suit the new opening times on a Sunday.

“An additional layout plan has been submitted to show the upstairs accommodation, the applicant has submitted further plans to show the front elevation and the relationship between the ground and upper floors.”

Meanwhile, another Islay venue is set to apply for a premises licence at the same meeting. Flossie’s Kitchen, at Port Mor in Port Charlotte, wishes an on-sales licence from 11am to 11pm, and an off-sales licence from 11am to 10pm seven days a week.

A report described the premises as: “Café within a community centre serving teas, coffees, food and a small selection of alcohol.”
