Centenary celebrations for former Argyll GP

A WELL-KNOWN retired GP who spent decades serving communities across Argyll celebrated his 100th birthday in style last weekend.

Dr Robert Macleod, who now lives in Hunters Quay, marked his milestone birthday on Sunday, July 20 with a special family gathering at Seamill Hydro. He was joined by his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to mark the occasion.

Dr Macleod spent many years working as a GP in Garelochhead, and earlier in his career served the communities of Strachur and Tighnabruaich.

He continues to enjoy an active life and pursue a wide range of interests and hobbies.

A standout moment on his birthday was the official presentation of a card from His Majesty The King, delivered in person by Deputy Lord Lieutenant Peter McDill. The gesture was a touching recognition of Dr Macleod’s long life and contributions to public service.

He was also deeply moved by the many cards, gifts and messages he received from friends, neighbours, and formercolleagues.
