MONITOR Farm Scotland is calling on farming families across the country to sign up for its new series of workshops, ‘Discuss the Undiscussable’, this November.
These sessions tackle one of the biggest challenges in agriculture: having the difficult conversations about the future. Covering family relationships, conflict resolution, and succession planning, the workshops provide practical tools to support smoother transitions and stronger farm businesses.
Taking place in Elgin, Larkhall, and Ingliston, the events bring together families from across the North, West, and East of Scotland, making it easy to access support close to home.
The workshops feature Canadian expert Lydia Carpenter of Farm Family Coach Inc., offering practical strategies to strengthen relationships and manage sensitive conversations. Elaine Froese, joining remotely, will provide guidance on ‘Finding Fairness in Farm Transition,’ helping families navigate
differing expectations and reach solutions that work for everyone.
Lydia said: “Good conflict isn’t bad—it sparks the creativity needed to move forward. With the right tools, farm families can tackle tough conversations safely and productively.”
Elaine added: “Families who address tension openly gain clarity, reduce conflict, and create practical solutions for a successful future.”
