COUNCILLORS are set to request that annual reports be made available on the performance of harbours and ports in Argyll and Bute.
A motion to be considered at a meeting will request that options for annual reporting be made available in six months’ time.
A separate motion is also to be moved asking for a report on additional maintenance costs at the council’s piers and harbours during the 2025/26 financial year.
The two motions, moved by Councillor Andrew Vennard (Conservative, Oban North and Lorn) and seconded by Councillor Maurice Corry (Conservative, Lomond North) will be considered at a meeting of the Argyll and Bute harbour board on Thursday, March 19.
The first asks the harbour board to resolve: “The harbour board agrees that it would be beneficial for the harbour board to receive annual performance reports in relation to the portfolio of piers, harbours, and other marine facilities managed by the council.
“Council officers are therefore instructed to prepare a report outlining options for the annual performance reporting of the portfolio of piers, harbours, and other marine facilities managed by the council; declaring that the said report shall be prepared and provided for consideration by the harbour board for the meeting of the harbour board which is scheduled to take place on September 4.”
The second motion then asks the board to agree: “Council officers are instructed to prepare a report for the harbour board which provides the details of the additional maintenance costs which have been incurred during the 2025/26 financial year in relation to the council’s piers and harbours, which said report shall be prepared as at March 31, once the revenue budget outturn for council’s marine assets for the 2025/26 financial year has been finalised.
“That the said report to be provided… shall be prepared and provided for the meeting of the harbour board which is scheduled to take place on September 4.”
