Blairmore and Strone Golf Club April update
Michael Caveney and Neil Monroe, Marshall Paterson winner and runner-up

OVER the past month, Blairmore and Strone Golf Club has got into full swing with a busy calendar offering members a number of cups and medals. The competitions were played on Saturday mornings, with a regular Texas Scramble also played on Sunday afternoons.

First off was the Tingdene Holy Loch Marina Medal, which was won by Bruce Marshall with a net 66.

The first cup of the month was the Finlay Morris, which was won by the retiring captain Michael Caveney with a score of 65.

The Connel Quaich was next and was played in atrocious conditions — all credit to those with the tenacity to finish. It was neck and neck, with Linda Ballard and Raymond Gorman both having a net 74, but Raymond Gorman won with the better inward nine.

The next week was the Captain’s Prize, which was won by the incoming captain Simon Whitehead with a net 67, pipping Raymond Gorman, who also had a 67, but Simon had the better inward nine.

The Cothouse Garage Medal was next, again won by Simon Whitehead with a net 66.

Finally, the first of two rounds of the Marshall Paterson was played and won by Michael Caveney with 65, just beating Neil Monroe, who had 66, leaving all to play for in the second round.

There was no 200 Club draw this month, but there will be a double draw at the end of May for those who wish to get involved.
