Bute overcome Strachur-Dunoon

A CLINICAL Bute side put Strachur-Dunoon to the sword at the weekend as preparations were stunted by a late change of venue for the South Division Two fixture.

Originally scheduled to take place at Strachurmore, a booking mishap meant the all-Argyllshire clash had to be redirected to the Playing fields in Tighnabruaich.

Despite the uncertainty around the game, both teams played out an entertaining and competitive game, with Bute scoring twice either side of half-time to secure the win.

Robert Lowrie scored after 20 and 40 minutes respectively, before Ronnie MacMillan and Louie MacDonald put the game beyond Strachur-Dunoon with 65 minutes.

However, it wasn’t all negative for the Cowal side, as Graham Love made a fantastic impact off the bench, rounding off a lovely passing movement to score his first of the season and secure a late consolation.

however, the Bute result was somewhat overshadowed by fan behaviour, prompting the club to release a statement on social media, adding: “On behalf of the committee and players at our club, we want to thank you for the ongoing support every Saturday whether it be home or away.

“However we must stress, you need to make every bit of effort to respect the other team and officials.

“You must conduct yourselves in the right manner on the sidelines.

“We know your emotions can run high during a game, but it does not give anyone the right to enter the pitch during play or shout abuse at players or match officials.”
