ROTHESAY JOINT Campus is celebrating a season of growth in the garden and across the school, thanks to significant developments in its horticulture programme and a successful Children in Need fundraiser.

The campus’ outdoor learning and horticulture initiatives have flourished this year following generous support from Saputo.

The investment has allowed pupils and staff to expand their growing spaces and broaden the skills young people are gaining through hands-on learning.

The school now benefits from three new polytunnels producing fresh salad crops, a large greenhouse used for seed cycles, cuttings and vegetables, and a developing community seed bank supported by a range of raised beds.

Pupils across the campus have been involved in planting, harvesting and planning next year’s crops as the programme grows.

Parents and carers are invited to visit the outdoor learning areas later this month.

Tours will take place on Wednesday, November 26, with Primary and Pre-5 families welcome from 2.45pm, and Academy parents and carers from 3.15pm.

Pupils themselves will act as guides, showcasing the space and sharing their plans for the coming growing season.

The school is also appealing for help from the wider community as it continues to build its seed bank and maintain the expanding garden areas.

Donations of seeds are warmly welcomed, as is practical support with weeding, potting, plant maintenance and assisting learners as they grow specialist crops including elephant garlic.

Meanwhile, pupils across the campus have been showing the same enthusiasm indoors, raising money for Children in Need with a packed day of fundraising activities.

S6 pupils organised a lively programme including a bake sale, 25-minute football matches and a popular pyjama day.

Not to be outdone, P7 pupils ran their own Pudsey-themed games and produced handmade crafts for their Pudsey shop.

Staff praised the hard work and big hearts of everyone involved, highlighting how proud the school is of the commitment shown by pupils of all ages.
