COLGLEN made the long journey to Strathpeffer to play Caberfeidh on Saturday, May 16, in what turned out to be a frustrating day.
The Cowal men would enjoy plenty of possession and agonisingly hit the woodwork at least three times, yet they would fail to convert their chances into anything meaningful.

On the other hand, the Ross and Cromarty men were that bit more clinical in taking their chances, with Ali Taylor, Gavin McLaughlan and Farquhar Macrae all finding the net in the first half. McLaughlan would score again after the interval to put the game beyond doubt.

Once again, the ColGlen team will be able to take confidence from their performance after competing well for long periods of a match at the top level against quality opponents. Full forward Neily McNaughton, who is sponsored by Altin Home Improvements, stood out and picked up the man of the match award. However, manager Ronnie MacVicar will be looking for his men to step up in the coming weeks and be more ruthless in front of goal.

Col Glen were very grateful to Western Ferries, who sponsored them on the day, and also to Colintraive resident David Eaglesham, who contributed towards the travel expenses.

The boys in yellow and black will get the chance to bounce back this Saturday, May 23, when they take on Glasgow Mid Argyll in the semi-final of the Celtic Cup. The match will be played at the Clachan of Glendaruel with a 3pm throw-up.
