COWAL Choral Club returns to The Queens Hall in Dunoon this month with Made in Dagenham, a feel-good musical comedy that takes audiences on a lively journey of music, laughter and standing up for what is right.
Based on the true story of the Ford Motor Company sewing machinists’ strike of 1968, the show follows Rita O’Grady (Meghan Tait), an ordinary working woman who finds herself at the centre of an extraordinary moment in history. When she and her fellow machinists discover they are being paid less than their male colleagues, Rita becomes an unexpected voice for change, setting off a chain of events that no one could have predicted.
Full of catchy songs, wit and warmth, Made in Dagenham has both light-hearted laughs with uplifting ensemble numbers, as well as some poignant moments. It captures not only the spirit of the era, but also the courage it takes to speak up and stand together, even when life gets complicated.
At its heart, though, this is a story about people: their humour, their resilience and the friendships that help carry them through. Audiences can expect a high-energy production packed with memorable songs and plenty of sixties style, all brought to life by Cowal Choral Club’s talented cast and crew under the artistic direction of Andrew Nicol.
Whether you’re a fan of musical theatre or simply looking for a great time full of laughs and emotion, this uplifting production promises entertainment from start to finish – proving that sometimes the most important journeys come with laughter, music and a few bumps in the road.
Don’t miss your chance to see this inspiring true story of courage and change. Performances take place on Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29 at 7.30pm, with a matinee on Saturday, May 30 at 2.30pm.
