The music tent proved once again to be the heartbeat of the Top Field, drawing dancers and toe- tappers out of the rain with a lively programme of ceilidh and folk-rock.
Local favourites Inverhoolie Ceilidh Band had no trouble filling the dance floor early on, before The Ross Miller Band lifted the tempo further with virtuosic piping and a foot-stomping set.
But the biggest roar came when compère Derek McIntyre introduced a “wee surprise” – none other than the World Champions Inveraray & District, joining RossMillerforanimpromptu 15-minute session.
The tent shook with the sound – and with the cheers. And when the heavens truly opened, Inveraray wisely stayed under cover to deliver their second scheduled set, giving the packed crowd a musical masterclass while the rain battered down outside.
Later, headliners Rhuvaal ensured the evening closed on a high, their infectious
blend of traditional and modern sounds drawing even weary pipe band competitors onto the floor to dance away the day’s aches.
