Employers across Argyll and Bute invited to share views on skills and recruitment

Employers across Argyll and Bute are being invited to take part in a new survey aimed at identifying skills gaps, recruitment challenges and future workforce needs across the region.

Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Argyll & Bute, working in partnership with Argyll and Bute Council, has commissioned economic development consultants EKOS to carry out the research. The study will involve a telephone survey with a broad mix of employers, representing different industries, locations and business sizes.

The aim of the survey is to build a clearer picture of the challenges facing local employers, including difficulties filling vacancies, retaining staff and accessing appropriate training. The findings will be used to inform regional skills planning and help shape future workforce development initiatives.

Employers who are selected to take part will be contacted by a member of the EKOS research team, or its partner Research Resource, to arrange a short telephone interview lasting around 30 minutes.

During the interview, employers will be asked about their current and future skills needs, recruitment and retention issues, engagement with training and apprenticeships, and their views on how well school, college and university leavers — particularly young people aged 16 to 24 — are prepared for the workplace.

DYW Argyll & Bute said the results will help identify priority areas for skills development and support wider economic development activity across the region.

Employers who would like more information about the survey can contact Nicola Graham at EKOS on [email protected] or Scott McKinnon at Argyll and Bute Council on [email protected].
