COUNCIL approval is not needed for a proposed new forest track at Inverliever Forest in Dalavich, officials have said.
Sections of track totalling nearly 2km in length have been planned by Forestry and Land Scotland, who have sought permission from Argyll and Bute Council.
The authority’s planning officers have decided there are no issues with the proposals, and prior approval is not needed to allow the work to take place.
An official said in a report: “The applicant proposes new sections of forest track measuring approximately 1830 metres in length within the forest block to allow access for forest management purposes. The constraints data for the site has been checked and none have been identified.
“It is considered that the proposed new sections of forest track will not have a significant negative impact on the wider environment and is considered to be acceptable in terms of siting and design.
“The forest is vast and can accommodate the works without any significant visual impact on the character and topography of the existing landscape.
“The proposed private ways will be constructed to established design standards and will have no materially harmful visual impact upon the site or its wider surroundings.
“In addition, the proposed development would have no materially harmful impact upon the natural environment and the works are at least 25 metres from the public road and on this basis, there are no objections.
