A temporary mini-roundabout will be installed in Greenock to facilitate diversion routes as part of roadworks related to a major redevelopment initiative.
The adjustments – needed because of the Central Greenock Project – will take place at the junction of Regent Street, Roxburgh Street and Sir Michael Street.
Inverclyde Council has said the works will begin on Monday and are expected to last a week but cautioned that the timeline is subject to weather conditions.
It said in a statement: “To help support local diversion routes through the town centre as part of the upcoming Central Greenock roadworks, alterations are required at the junction of Regent Street, Roxburgh Street and Sir Michael Street.
“These works will involve the installation of a temporary mini-roundabout.
“At present, traffic on Sir Michael Street gives way to both Regent Street and Roxburgh Street.
“Following these changes, the junction will operate as a standard roundabout, with all approaches required to give way to traffic coming from the right.”
The local authority added: “The works are scheduled to start on July 13 and are expected to last approximately one week, subject to weather conditions.
“Temporary traffic management, in the form of three-way temporary traffic lights, will be in place throughout the works.”
