PLANS to demolish a house on the Kintyre Peninsula and replace it with a new property have been given the go-ahead.
The proposal by Carskiey Estates for the site at Garvalt Cottage, near Campbeltown, attracted no representations expressing objection or support from the public.
Argyll and Bute Council officers have now awarded planning permission, stating that there was no reason to make another decision.
A handling report by a planning officer said: “The application site is located within the Mull of Kintyre Local Landscape Area (LLA). Even so, the proposal does not give rise to any immediate negative impact upon the natural or established landscape designation.
“The settlement pattern in the wider locale is of larger buildings contained within farm clusters and isolated/small groups of modest buildings.
“With the proposal not being exception, the proposed 1.5 storey building will be established within Carskiey Estate and would replace the existing single storey derelict building.
“The nature of the proposed development is small scale and would not detract from the character and appearance of the wider settlement pattern nor the immediate surrounding where residential properties are secluded or form part of a farmland within the estate and are of moderate scale and massing.
“The proposed building is of similar size to that of the existing building and would be set back further away from both the established tree which will be retained and the edge of the public road.
“Additionally, there are no concerns with the proposal as it relates to residential amenity due to its positioning.
“The nature of the proposal is deemed acceptable and in keeping with its immediate surrounding and would not have a harmful effect on listed buildings to the northeast of the site, comprising Carskiey House and its associated Doocots.”
