Hunter’s Quay Holiday Village enters administration

HUNTER’S QUAY Holiday village has entered into administration, along with eight other Cove UK owned Argyll based holiday parks.

Late on Tuesday evening this newspaper received official confirmation from administrators Alvarez & Marsal that they had officially taken control of Hunters Quay Holiday Village, Drimsynie Holiday Village, Loch Awe Holiday Park, Loch Eck Caravan Park, Loch Eck Country Lodges, St Catherines Caravan Park, Stratheck Holiday Park and Loch Lomond Holiday Park.

Three other holiday Cove parks outwith the local region, Gwel an Mor Resort in Cornwall, Solway Holiday Park in Cumbria and Springwood Holiday Park in Kelso, Scottish Borders, also entered into administration.

It’s understood staff at Hunter’s Quay were notified late Monday before administrators arrived on site the next morning. Alvarez & Marshall will now take over

the day to day running of these facilities.

In a statement issued by administrators and sent to this newspaper on Tuesday night. Adam Paxton, managing director, Alvarez & Marsal Europe LLP, issued a message of assurance, he said: “As administrators, our priority is to ensure a smooth transition and maintain stability across the parks. We are working to ensure day-to-day operations continue with minimal disruption. Owners, residents and holidaymakers should not be impacted, and can contact the site managers with any questions they may have.”

Other companies in the wider Cove Communities group are not impacted by the administrations and continue to trade as normal but its clear the process for residents, owners and staff has been confusing.

Back in February 2022 Cove UK, an established leisure company operating a number of holiday parks across the UK, whose parent company Cove Communities is based in America, acquired Argyll Holidays from the Campbell family.

The multi-million pound deal brought an end to the Campbell’s family ownership of 55 years. Significant investment was made transforming the exterior and interior of the main facility at Hunter’s Quay..

Even this summer Cove UK, announced a £6.2 million investment across its nationwide portfolio, the centre piece of which was a range of themed family lodges at Drimsynie Holiday Village.

For now operations at Hunter’s Quay Holiday Village and the other holiday parks will continue as normal and staff will remain in place.
