MORE than 600m of forest track for woodland near Inveraray has been approved by council officials.
Forestry and Land Scotland applied to Argyll and Bute Council for the formation of the track at the Brenchoille Woodland in Furnace.
One of the authority’s planning officers has said that the development is unlikely to cause any adverse effect, and it has now been ruled that prior approval is not required.
The officer said: “The applicant proposes new sections of ATV (all-terrain vehicle) forest track, measuring approximately 640m in length, to extend an existing track within the forest block, to allow access to a harvested site for establishment and management.
“The private ways will be designed and constructed in accordance with Forestry and Land Scotland, ATV track specification, June 2019. Materials will be won on site.
“It is considered that the proposed sections of forest ATV track will not have a significant negative impact on the wider environment. The proposal is considered to be acceptable in terms of siting and design.
“The forest is vast and can accommodate the works without any significant visual impact on the character and topography of the existing landscape.
“The proposed private ways will be constructed to established design standards and will have no materially harmful visual impact upon the site or its wider surroundings.
“In addition, the proposed development would have no materially harmful impact upon the natural environment, and the works are at least 25 metres from the nearest public road and on this basis, there are no objections.”
