ARGYLL and Bute’s chief health officer has welcomed the appointment of a new salaried GP for a Kintyre medical practice.
Dr Jen Coyle, who has spent time working in Tasmania, took up the post at the Carradale Practice at the start of February.
Evan Beswick, chief officer of Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), also hailed the success of the area’s first-ever child health whole service development day.
The details feature in a report to go before the HSCP’s integration joint board (IJB) at its meeting on Wednesday, March 25.
Mr Beswick said: “I am really delighted that Dr Jen Coyle has been appointed on a permanent basis as the salaried General Practitioner (GP) for the Carradale Practice in Kintyre.
“Dr Coyle, who commenced in the salaried post on February 2, knows the practice and patients well, as she had previously worked locally as a locum GP.
“Dr Coyle brings with her a wide range of experience and qualifications to the role and will be a real asset to the practice.
“This appointment also ensures that we have a permanent GP at Carradale which will allow us to continue to provide a resilient and sustainable service to the local communities that we serve.
“My thanks also go to the health and social care team at the practice for their ongoing commitment to the patients and ensuring that we provide a wide range of services locally.”
He added: “The first-ever child health whole service development day was a resounding success, bringing together allied health professionals, school nursing, health visiting, community children’s nurses, children’s nursery nurses, and our child protection advisor for a truly collaborative and inspiring event.
“Colleagues celebrated shared achievements across the service using available data and lived experience to reflect on our progress and spark innovative ideas for the future.
“The day showcased the strength of our multidisciplinary team, highlighted our commitment to continuous improvement, and reinforced our collective ambition to deliver the best possible outcomes for children, young people, and families.”
