SPEED cameras are set to return to the stretch of the A82 between Luss and Tarbet this summer, a report has revealed.
An update from Transport Scotland on the A82 and A83 roads is set to go before councillors and community figures at a meeting next week.
It reports that temporary speed cameras will be installed, for an unspecified length of time, on the stretch of the A82 from next month.
The cameras were previously installed between Luss and Tarbet from September to December 2024, with no injury collisions recorded during that time.
The report will go before Argyll and Bute Council’s Bute and Cowal community planning group at its meeting on Tuesday, April 28.
A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: “Temporary average speed cameras (TASC) are to return to the section of the A82 between Luss–Tarbet, noting we recorded zero injury collisions during deployment (2024), compared to nine injury collisions on the route 2021-23. The system will be reinstated during May 2026.
“Loch Lomond laybys/rest area signing strategy and junctions improvement scheme design is still ongoing, with BEAR progressing designs for introduction of VAS (vehicle activated signs) at key junctions such as Duck Bay, Cameron House, Luss junctions.
“The filter material renewal and drainage upgrade works at Arden RAB (roundabout) will continue this financial year, [and] involves using a recycling technique that cleans and reuses existing stone within the drainage system.
“This method eliminates the need for excavation and replacement with new materials, significantly reducing waste, conserving resources, and lowering the overall carbon footprint of the scheme.”
