The key men for ColGlen
MacVicar continues at the helm

COLGLEN Shinty Club has confirmed their management team ahead of their historic 2026 season.

After gaining promotion in dramatic fashion last year, the Glen face the tough task of cementing themselves in the Mowi Premiership.

Though this is uncharted territory for the Cowal side, their new-look management team will relish the opportunity.

Spearheading the operation is Ronnie MacVicar, who remains in post as manager.

This will be his ninth year in the role, during which he has guided the team from South Division One to the top flight. A fiercely competitive shinty player in his day, Ronnie has instilled a desire to win among his players over the years. Within the club, it is hoped his continued leadership will stand the team in good stead as they compete in the Premiership for the first time.

Stevie Bulloch comes into the setup as a fresh face and will take on the role of assistant to MacVicar. A well-known and respected figure in Cowal shinty, Stevie was a key player for Strachur for many years, known for having a cool head on the pitch, and brings a wealth of experience to the squad.

Rory Fraser has also been appointed, taking on the role of coach. Rory’s track record as a player for Kingussie speaks for itself, but his involvement with ColGlen over the past two years has been seen as a significant contribution towards the team’s improvement. Rory will now officially be leading the training for the group.

Murray McClymont has been named as team captain. A supremely fit player who always leads by example, Murray’s attitude towards training and his determination shown during matches, according to those inside the club, made him an obvious choice for the role.

With all the posts now filled, the club is hoping these key figures will drive the squad forward into the 2026 season. A huge and exciting task now awaits the Glen boys, and preparations appear to be well underway, with the squad’s training programme having already started in earnest.
