Appin garden house plan wins approval in principle

PLANNING permission in principle has been granted for a house in garden ground in Appin.

Applicants identified as Mr and Mrs D Wood applied to Argyll and Bute Council regarding building a house in the garden of Sycheida.

No objections or expressions of support were received by the authority during the statutory process and planning permission in principle has now been granted.

A council officer said in a handling report: “The application is seeking to establish the principle of the dwellinghouse on the site with the detailed siting, design and finishes of the development to be secured through an appropriately worded condition imposed on the grant of permission which will inform the future detailed arrangements for the development of the site which will be subject to assessment by officers through the submission of a further planning application(s).

“Notwithstanding, the site plan shows an indicative layout as to how the site could be developed showing a dwellinghouse sited and oriented to reflect the neighbouring dwellinghouses.

“Furthermore, the supporting statement submitted with the application anticipates that the proposed dwellinghouse will be a one and a half storey structure, designed and finished to be in keeping with the surrounding development.

“Officers are satisfied that the site represents an appropriate opportunity for development with a suitably sited and designed dwellinghouse within the defined SA (settlement area) of Port Appin which would reflect the established settlement pattern evident within the surrounding area.”

The official added: “The detailed siting, design and finishes of the proposed dwellinghouse will be secured through an appropriately worded condition imposed on the grant of permission which will inform the future detailed arrangements for the development of the site which will be subject to further assessment.

“No objections have been received from consultees with regards to the proposed infrastructure to serve the proposed development and no objections have been received from neighbouring properties.”
