RESIDENTS have little more than a week to express their views on where they live and work in Argyll and Bute as the council puts together its third local development plan.
A consultation is currently taking place to allow opinions to be expressed on the future of most parts of the authority’s area.
The plan is expected to replace the second local development plan in 2029 and will cover all areas except those within Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
A place standard tool forms part of the consultation, asking residents what currently works well for them across a wide range of themes. The survey is open until Monday, April 13.
A council spokesperson said: “Where we spend our time has an important effect on our lives and our wellbeing. Improving the quality of places and the opportunities that we have access to can help to tackle inequalities.
“The place standard is a simple tool to consider the qualities of a place. It helps people to think about both the physical and social aspects of places, and the important relationship between them.
“It has 14 themes, each with a main question and further prompts to help considerations and identify issues for improvement.
“The results of the place standard tool will contribute to the evidence base that will inform the production of local development plan 3.
“We are asking for responses for settlements across the whole of Argyll and Bute except those within the National Park area, this is because Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority is responsible for the local development plan in the National Park.”
The statement also said: “For each of the 14 themes the tool uses a one to seven scoring system, where one means there is a lot of room for improvement and seven means there is very little improvement.
“By scoring each theme out of seven the results can be plotted on a spider diagram. The diagram that is produced is easy to understand. It shows at a glance the areas where a place is performing well and where there is room for improvement.”
