For Bute, the local shop and organisation dedicated to supporting island causes, has recently made a series of donations to benefit a wide range of community groups and initiatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Denholm received £285 for maintenance equipment to help with the upkeep of the rockery and the Chapelhill viewpoint in Rothesay, ensuring the much-loved local spot remains well cared for.

The Baird of Bute Society was awarded £500 to obtain a marquee and table, which will be used when attending events such as the Bute Highland Show.

The Society, inspired by the life and achievements of innovator Andrew Baird, works to inspire the youth of Scotland to aspire to achievement in their own lives through activities, scholarships, and school programmes.

Beachwatch Bute SCIO, a charitable organisation with a dedicated beach ranger who monitors and removes marine litter from the island’s shores, received £5,000 towards its general running costs.

Support also extended to cultural and community events, with £500 donated to the Ukrainian community in Argyll and Bute to help organise the Ukrainian National Day celebrations, held at Bute Yard on August 22.

Bute Animal Rescue and Re-homing benefited from a £300 contribution towards everyday expenses, including veterinary bills.

In addition, £500 went towards supporting a nine-week series of art history talks held at the Anchor Tavern Community Hub between September and November.

A spokesperson for For Bute said: “Once again we would like to thank all those who donate to us and buy from us.”

For Bute can be found at 39 Tower Street, on the corner of Tower Street and Victoria Street.

The shop is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday, from 10am until 4pm.
