NHS 24 urge local families to plan ahead for Easter health needs

Families across Argyll and Bute are being encouraged to plan ahead for their healthcare needs this Easter, as NHS 24 highlights the importance of using online advice services during the holiday period.
With GP surgeries and pharmacies operating reduced hours over the Easter break, NHS 24 is urging people to visit NHS inform as their first step if they have questions or concerns about their health.
The reminder forms part of the latest phase of NHS 24’s Powered by People campaign, which promotes the use of digital services to help people access reliable advice quickly, particularly during busy public holiday periods.
Common concerns such as coughs, colds, stomach bugs, rashes, minor injuries and medication queries can often be dealt with safely online, helping people get the information they need without having to call the 111 service.
NHS inform provides up-to-date, NHS-approved guidance, including symptom checkers and information on local services, allowing users to decide on the best course of action.
Dr Ron Cook, NHS 24’s medical director, said many of the queries typically handled by the 111 service could be answered instantly online.
He said: When GP practices are closed, NHS inform should be people’s first stop if they have health concerns. By checking trusted sites first, people can quickly access information and reassurance for minor issues, while helping keep phone lines free for those who need urgent care.
Families are also being advised to prepare in advance by stocking up on basic medicines and first aid supplies, and ensuring they have enough prescription medication to last over the holiday period.
NHS 24 says the approach will help ensure urgent services remain available for those who need them most, while supporting people to manage minor conditions safely at home.
